About Me

Stop asking yourself what you want to do on your next vacation - and ask yourself how you want to feel

Hi, I'm Christine Brown, art lover, oenophile and owner of The House of Travel.  I started my own travel agency because, frankly, I was tired of seeing people go on mediocre vacations.

Too often, we dream up bucket lists to the brim with all the incredible destinations we want to visit.

But those bucket lists stay just that: dreams.  Unfulfilled.

Instead of a heart-stopping safari through South Africa, or a months-long cruise around the world...we opt for another lounge-by-the-(crowded!)-pool kind of getaway.  Been there, done that.  Have the weird tan lines to prove it.

My mission?

To jolt you out of the ordinary with vacations that INSPIRE.

You deserve to get more out of your vacations.  It's time to share scintillating moments with your loved ones, marvel at the majesty of lands you've only imagined, and fill yourself up with the delights that await around every sun-splashed corner.

But...it takes more than a few hours surfing the web to put together a transformational travel journey.  Luckily, that's where I come in!

A bit more about me:

  • I worked for years in the corporate offices of one of those giant online booking engines.  It gave me a behind-the-scenes look at how booking your vacation online can quickly become a hassle.

  • My favorite country to visit is France (shout out to my fellow Francophiles!).  It has such a magnetic pull for me.

  • I've been working in the travel industry since 2009, with a break around 2013...but I couldn't stay away.  Once you're bitten by the travel bug, it's hard to let go.

  • I used to love creating art when I was younger - and I went to business school thinking I could leverage my creative side through something like advertising.  Things didn't quite work out that way...so now I get creative with my clients' itineraries instead!

  • I first fell in love with travel on family trips to Disney.  Not so sophisticated, I know.  But, Disney is so good at recreating the magical look of faraway places.  Now - I'm blessed to be able to visit those places in person!

  • Being a part of and contributing to the travel industry sets my soul on fire. I've worked with cruise lines on their travel agent advisory boards, blogged for some well known travel websites and hit the stage to inspire newcomers to the industry.

  • Because of my dedication to my clients and the travel community as a whole, I was named to the Cruise Line Industry Association Hall of Fame as a Rising Star in 2016. Also in my class..."godfather of river cruising" - Rudi Schreiner, President and CEO of AMA Waterways...how cool is that!
